DSBM / Depressive Suicidal Black Metal - a sub-genre of black metal characterized by lethargic atmospheres, usually repetitive song structures, and slow-mid tempos. Vocalists typically employ high-pitched wailing and gruff vocal techniques, while the instrumentation is supplemented with keyboards and acoustic guitars, usually utilized for ambiance and non-distorted sections. Due to the style’s nature, artists frequently opt to form one-person bands, where a sole member handles every instrument. The subject matter concerns pessimistic topics, including suicide, nihilism, misanthropy, hatred, melancholy, and self-mutilation.
